Hands Showing Unity

Our approach and values

ASM exists to support neurodiverse people in the workplace – and to guide the organisations around them to be more inclusive.

We are an employee-owned, neuroinclusive practice providing mentoring, coaching, training, workshops, and workplace consultancy. Here’s why individuals and employers choose ASM:

Our team brings over 70 years of combined experience in neurodiversity and employment support . Each of us has either personal neurodiverse experience or close family connections, so we genuinely understand the challenges and strengths that neurodiverse profiles can bring. We’ve walked this path and have the professional know-how to navigate it.

Deep Expertise:

We never use one-size-fits-all programs – those rarely work well. Instead, we ask “What does this person need, in this context, to be supported well?” . Everything we do is tailored to the individual’s situation. This means your mentoring or coaching is designed around your goals, your challenges, and your working style.

Focus on You:

We don’t believe the burden should fall solely on neurodiverse individuals to “adapt.” True inclusion is a two-way street. That’s why we work closely with employers, managers, and universities to adjust environments and expectations. By educating and coaching those around you, we create workplaces where everyone takes responsibility for inclusion, not just you.

Shared Responsibility:

Everything is grounded in day-to-day reality. From communication strategies to energy management, we focus on practical changes that make work easier right away. No vague advice or off-the-shelf checklists – we provide concrete tools (like templates for difficult conversations, custom planners, or sensory adjustments) that you can start using immediately. Our motto: good support should make your life easier, not more complicated.

Practical & Realistic:

ASM is purpose-led and employee-owned. In April 2025, we placed 100% of the company into an Employee Ownership Trust to safeguard our mission . What does that mean for you? It means we’re not in it for quick profit. Our team collectively owns ASM, so our only priority is delivering quality support and positive outcomes. There’s no pressure from outside investors to upsell or cut corners. Our charges are transparent and often lower than other providers , because we care about access. When you work with ASM, you can trust that our advice and decisions put people first – always.

Integrity & Independence:

A significant part of our support is delivered online. This isn’t a compromise – it’s a feature. Remote delivery means we can help you wherever you are. Many of our clients work in different regions or even countries. With video calls and digital tools, your mentoring or coaching continues seamlessly through moves, job changes, or travel. We also save time and stress by cutting out commutes. (And if in-person meetings are needed and feasible, we can do that too – whatever works best for you.)

Accessible Anywhere:

We don’t believe the burden should fall solely on neurodiverse individuals to “adapt.” True inclusion is a two-way street. That’s why we work closely with employers, managers, and universities to adjust environments and expectations. By educating and coaching those around you, we create workplaces where everyone takes responsibility for inclusion, not just you.

Shared Responsibility:

Our support is practical and person-centred. We’re not therapists (and we’ll tell you if therapy or another service would be a better fit). We won’t drown you in psychology jargon or treat you like a patient. What we will do is listen to you, respect you, and focus on what helps you in real life. Clients often tell us they feel understood for the first time. As one person put it: “ASM have been brilliant right from the start. They’ve made a huge difference to my working life.” That sense of relief – having someone “get it” and offer useful help – is at the heart of what we do.

Person-Centred, Not Medical:

Lived-Experience Led, Outcomes-Focused, Human.

These aren’t just buzzwords to us – they are principles we live by. We combine firsthand insight with professional skill to create meaningful change, and we approach every interaction with humility and authenticity. We know we’re not perfect, and we don’t have all the answers. But we do have a commitment to learning and collaborating. If something is outside our scope, we’ll say so and help you find the right resource . If another organisation can serve you better, we’ll make the introduction. Your trust is more important than keeping you all to ourselves.

What we do

What web accessibility is

We provide specialist 1:1 mentoring and coaching for neurodiverse adults, often in employment, moving roles, or jobseeking. Support is tailored and grounded in day-to-day reality: communication, energy and focus, confidence, work systems, workplace relationships, adjustments, advocacy and navigation.

Our work is frequently delivered online, enabling continuity when clients travel, relocate, or are seconded internationally.

For leaders

We offer executive coaching for senior leaders and high-potential professionals, often where neurodiversity, complexity, visibility and responsibility meet. Coaching is discreet, thoughtful and practical, supporting leadership effectiveness, decision-making, communication, confidence, boundaries, and sustainable performance.

For employers and institutions

We design and deliver training, workshops and consultancy that helps organisations become neuroinclusive in practice. This can include Lunch & Learns, manager training, leadership sessions, HR and policy support, neuroinclusive recruitment, and implementation guidance that helps teams move from awareness to action.

What makes ASM different

Lived and professional expertise

Our team brings deep experience in neurodiversity and employment, informed by both professional practice and lived experience. That means we can support with the realities as well as the theory—workplace conversations, adjustments, benefits and entitlements, advocacy, mediation, and the everyday decisions that shape whether support actually works.

Purpose-led, employee-owned

ASM is a limited company owned by an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT). We chose employee ownership because it protects a long-term, purpose-led approach: fair pay, sustainable delivery, and reinvestment in quality and access, rather than extracting profit from neurodiversity.

We charge for services to ensure financial sustainability and fair wages, and we aim to keep fees lower than comparable services wherever we can. We also partner with like-minded charities and offer some pro bono support where need is most acute.

Built around the individual

We don’t place people into rigid programmes. We work from one question: what does this person need, in this context, to be supported well? That principle guides every part of our work with individuals and with organisations.

Shared responsibility

Support shouldn’t fall primarily on neurodiverse people. We work alongside employers and institutions to strengthen everyday neuroinclusive practice so adjustments are understood, implemented, and maintained, not just discussed.

Our history

We began in 2013 with a focus on individually tailored mentoring. Over time, demand and learning shaped our work into a broader neuroinclusive offer supporting individuals and helping organisations build the conditions where neurodiverse people can do their best work.

Since 2025, we are an employee-owned business, ensuring that ASM’s values, culture, and independence are protected for the long term.
